Experimentation

Pixilation

I think this activity was very successful and worked really well with our ideas. It moves smoothly through all the pictures and because we did it outside in the same place at the same time the lighting was the same throughout all the shots and we don't see dramatic light changes unlike in some of the others that took place inside.

Cut Out Animation

This activity took longer and more patience than the others because each body part had to be moved individually to make the cut out people look realistic and not give a jumpy effect but make it flow. Different shadows also form on the table and beside the table we see some movement from peoples hand which is distracting on the actual animation but otherwise I think it went successfully and the amusing cut outs make the shots more entertaining.

Small Object Animation

We found the small objects easy to work with and we kept our idea simple but effective. However the issues we faced when doing this activity was having the changing in lighting in the room from shadows from surrounding people. We also changed the camera settings to try and correct the lighting which led to the camera being more focused and giving a clearer and sharper image which we unfortunately started off without.

Claymation

Our images flow nicely at the beginning but towards the end it becomes jerky and uneven. Towards the end it became rushed and we could not complete the animation properly as we spent so long making the characters at the beginning. I think the first 10 seconds worked well and our characters moved well.

Sand Animation

For our sand animation we didn't have a particular idea, we just made it up as we went along moving from idea to idea. Some of the ideas worked well like the spiral but our ending was also rushed. Also the camera moves angle which changes the position of the shot but I think we took enough shots to make it flow despite the contrasting ideas.
